 The bicarbonate bolus encourages the calves to drink and eat when there is hyperacidity. When the calves have diarrhoea, they lose fluid and buffer bases. The bolus contains high doses of sodium bicarbonate, which buffers the hyperacidity and immediately prevents further fluid loss and dehydration.

 Feeding recommendation: 1 bolus at the first sign of diarrhea and 1 bolus with each subsequent meal. Preventatively 1-2 boluses after birth to prevent early hyper acidity in newborns.
